Launch of BlindShell USA Brings the BlindShell Classic Line of Mobile Phones for the Visually Impaired from the Czech Republic to North America in Exclusive Import, Marketing, and Distribution Agreement
New company, exhibiting at Booth 514 from March 15 to 18, 2022, at the 37th Annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference in Anaheim, California, will drive business development, marketing, sales, and customer support for the award-winning BlindShell Classic product line created in the Czech Republic to make smartphones accessible to the visually impaired.
AVENTURA, Fla. – March 14, 2022: BlindShell USA has launched with exclusive rights to import from the Czech Republic and then market and distribute in the US BlindShell’s innovative family of cell phones for the visually impaired, including the BlindShell Classic II. This award-winning accessible cell phone combines a tactile keypad, voice control, and a high-volume speaker for flexibility and ease in operation, eliminating the barriers to communication found in traditional cell phones with touchscreen navigation. The BlindShell Classic II delivers assistive tools for browsing the Internet, screen reading, and near-field communication (NFC) object tagging, and it integrates WhatsApp Messenger for centralized instant messaging, voice-over-IP service, and audio and video file transfer.
The BlindShell product line originated in the Czech Republic with Petr Svobodnik, who recognized that visually impaired individuals, globally estimated at 300 million by the World Health Organization, were being left behind by the smart-phone revolution with its focus on touchscreens that proved challenging to navigate. He partnered with Daniel Novak to work closely with the European sight-loss community in creating an Android-based solution that won Vodafone’s 2014 Idea of the Year Competition. Vodafone provided development support to help launch the startup and accessible cell phone, both named BlindShell.
Since then, under the leadership of CEO Jan Šimík, the company has increased sales by 50% each year with BlindShell phones now available in 40 countries. It ranked 15th in the 2019 Rising Star category of the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Central Europe and 26th among the 50 fastest growing public or private technology companies in the 2020 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Central Europe.
In the US, the BlindShell Classic product family will be available online through BlindShellUSA.com and also distributed through existing and new physical channels. BlindShell USA will exhibit at Booth 514 from March 15 to 18, 2022, at the 37th Annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference in Anaheim, California.
